Katy Perry for OPI - Teenage Dream

Wow. Okay.
So I've been reading polish blogs for ever, and I'm not sure why it's taken me the amount of time that it has to start doing this.  I love Nail Polish. I am a nail polish fiend; it is ridiculous.
I'm not sure how to get started, so let's just get to posting.

This line was crazy anticipated and keeps selling out all over the place. I was lucky enough to walk into the mall, and see the Katy Perry display sitting on the counter FULL. How I got so lucky I don't really know, so I snatched the two that I wanted up. I went for Teenage Dream, and Black Shatter.
I intended to wait for the OPI Spring 2011 Brights collection at which point I intended to buy the silver shatter but I couldn't pass up the black shatter.

Let me start by saying that I am not a fan of Katy Perry. If you like her, great but personally, I don't. I was not keen on buying these polishes because of the Katy Perry name attached to them, but I decided that OPI lacquer is OPI lacquer so might as well go for it.

3 coats (with flash)

3 Coats (No flash)

In the shot with no flash, around the top edge of my ring finger is the colour that this polish appears with my skin tone. The strange shade of pink that resides somewhere between the shot with flash and the shot without. These shots were taken after two full days of wear, and it's still staying strong!
I didn't use a topcoat because I had intended to use the shatter on top but when it dried I fell in love with it, then life managed to get in the way and I haven't had time to put on a top coat. I absolutely love this colour.

My Verdict
I'm glad I bought this even though I generally tend not to like shades of pink but for some reason I love this. It's a primarily glitter based polish without getting chunky the way the Burlesque and Alice in Wonderland glitters tended to. Not only is it glitter based, it's got holographic sequins which are smaller than the majority which is another thing that I love about this polish. The application was smooth, not at all chunky which is what I expected. Without top coat the texture is rough, though not nearly as rough as the average glitter polish. This is not just a glitter polish, it could be also be used as a layering tool. I'm really happy that I got lucky and managed to find it.

It's quite sheer with one coat, almost opaque with two and then completely opaque with three. From what I've heard of Last Friday Night (Teenage Dream's sister colour) It's a pain to make opaque. According to a number of sources it takes more than four or five coats to reach opacity and even then there is VNL.
